Allie and the 2 am CVS run

Normally at night we bathe Allie, feed her a bottle then rock her to sleep.  When we put her in her crib 99% of the time she is out.  If she's not, she might whine for 2-3 minutes but then she is toast.

Last Tuesday night in Marshall, we bathed her then tried to feed her a bottle but she was having NO part of any of it.  She even screamed during her bath which never happens.  We finally got her to bed around 11 pm (well, OUR bed) but at 2 am she woke up screaming which made us realize there was something wrong - our baby never cries like that.  On top of it all she was extremely hot signaling fever.

We woke up Pammy (my MIL) and she stayed with Allie upstairs while Ben and I ran to CVS to buy a thermometer.  When we got home, sure enough the poor baby was running a 101.7 degree fever.  We finally got her back to sleep around 4 am, but she was awake by 7.  Even as an infant, we NEVER had a night like the one Tuesday!  Ben took her downstairs and this is what I woke up to...how sweet is this sight?  After a night like the one we had, it definitely puts a smile on your face!

NOTE to self - when traveling with a baby always bring a thermometer, Tylenol and Orajel!

Say what you want to about a small town BUT I love it when you call your pediatrician from your childhood at 9 am and they work you in at 11:15 am.  You get to the office, fill out paperwork and are IN the room at 11:20 am and OUT by 11:45 am.  Oh what I would give for this to be the case in Baton Rouge.  Dr. Turner was so sweet to see us.  From what he told us teething normally gives babies no more than a 101 degree fever and since she was on the cusp, he put her on antibiotics just in case she was coming down with something.  Good ole' Amoxicillin.  Ugh, I tasted that nasty pink crap and it tastes just as bad as it smells and looks...poor babies.

When we got home, we gave AP a dose and she read on her daddy's lap then took a nap in his arms WHILE I was blow-drying my hair might I add.  How does she sleep through things like that?
