24-week appointment

We had our 24-week doctor's appointment today and it looks as if Allie Parker is doing well.

At our 20-week anatomy scan, the doctor discovered an "echogenic foci" in Allie's heart. Without going into grueling detail, this scared the crap out of us. We were asked to come back for a second sonogram in 4 weeks to see if the issue cleared up. After enduring 4 of the longest weeks of our entire lives, it was apparent this morning that the echogenic foci is gone. HALLELUJAH!

The Monday after the anatomy scan, I woke up and was bleeding which again, scared the crap out of us (see a trend?). Dr. Boudreaux rushed me into her office and I was diagnosed with "placenta previa" which basically means my placenta and cervix are growing on top of one another. It was painful for awhile, but at least we had a diagnosis. At our appointment today, the previa has cleared, however I have a very low placenta. (Whatever that means!)

On a fun and positive note, Allie weighs 1 lb. 9 oz., putting her in the 57th percentile for weight. I feel her move a lot now which is strange but amazing at the same time. It's hard to fathom she will be here in 4 months but we could not be more excited and thrilled!

I am pretty proud of the fact that I have only gained 14 lbs so far...YIPEE!

The past 4 weeks have been rough for us, but today shed light on the fact that Allie is healthy just as we had expected all along.

I go back to the doctor on March 17th for the lovely glucose scan...I'm ready to have it behind me!

It's Been Awhile

Ah, life has been quite hectic over the past 3 weeks. Between work travel, the Super Bowl, Mardi Gras and other weekend getaways, we have been so busy.

I have been feeling well and can feel Allie move around more each day. It's such a cool feeling. I was in California earlier this week and literally saw my stomach protrude out thanks to a nice foot, elbow or arm nudge. I can also tell she sleeps while I am in airplanes. Not sure if it's the humming and/or vibration of the motor or what but she is extremely calm when "we" fly. Given travel is the majority of my job, she gets plenty of rest. I honestly think she has been more places in the womb over the past 6 months than I had over the first 10 years of my life!

According to our "Week 23" What to Expect When You're Expecting update, little girl is roughly 12 inches long / 1 pound and should double in size over the next 4 weeks. It's unreal to think that by then I will be in the third trimester...WOW!

Mardi Gras is this weekend and will definitely be a completely different experience this year. Ben and I are trying out some new restaurants (NOLA, Luke's, Cuvee) - might as well spend money on good food since all 3 of us can enjoy rather than the other debauchery Mardi Gras typically entails! The parade Ben rides in (Bacchus) is Sunday, followed by the ball that night. I will post pictures of his journey as well as his elaborate costume.

Over the past 3 months, we decided to add onto our house so we hired an architect and are currently getting bids on the project. My mother-in-law has graciously agreed to keep Allie 2 weeks per month so we are adding on a playroom/living area, bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette to make things easier for her...AND for anyone else who may come visit once Allie arrives.

What a nasty day - sleet in Baton Rouge, gross. I hope the weather changes quickly for this weekend!

Next Wednesday is our 24-week doctor's appointment and sonogram - it's always fun seeing how much Allie has grown!

A-L-L-I-E

This week is just the most fun week ever. Between my first shower and the fun things I've ordered for Allie that are slowly arriving at the house it's been so exciting.

My dad's BOA Amber made letters to match Allie's bedding for her room - check out how absolutely precious these are.

Who would have ever guessed decorating her room would be this much fun?

Work Shower

While in Austin for a conference and sales meetings, my awesome company threw a baby shower for Allie. Much thanks to Autumn & Rachel for bringing everything together!

Allie and I received a glider and ottoman, cash and a Babies 'r Us gift card from the sales and account management team...so sweet of them to think about us.

Aunt Autumn (a close friend of ours from Oklahoma who I've worked with for 3 years) gave Allie so many cute things including this Nike robe with "Ross" monogrammed on the back - WAY TOO CUTE!

...and this monogrammed blanket.
